The dates

Pesach 5787 begins on the evening of Wednesday 21 April 2027 and runs through 29 April 2027. The first Seder is the evening of 21 April.

Most programs run the full eight days, arriving on 21 April and departing on 29 or 30 April. Many also sell a shorter first-days or second-days option, which is worth asking about if the full eight days is more than you want or more than you can afford.

Because these dates are fixed years in advance, the calendar is never what constrains a booking. Availability and flights are.

The booking timeline

Sukkot to Chanukah (October–December 2026) — the window that matters

This is when serious inventory opens and when most organizers offer pre-publication rates before their marketing goes out. Booking here gets you the best price and the full choice of room categories, and it costs nothing but deciding sooner. If you already know you are going, this is when to move.

January 2027 — family rooms start to disappear

Connecting rooms, family suites and anything sleeping more than four go first, consistently, every year. A program can be half empty and still have no connecting rooms left. If your family needs a specific configuration, January is already late.

February–March 2027 — narrowing, not closing

Availability still exists, especially at smaller and newer programs, and cancellations release rooms. But you are increasingly choosing from standard categories, and prices have usually risen from the early rates. Flights at this point are often the harder problem than the hotel.

April 2027 — the gamble

Late discounting does happen on unsold inventory. It is a genuine gamble: you need the right program to have the right room category left, at the point when airfares are at their annual peak. Families who have flexibility on destination sometimes do very well here. Families who need three connecting rooms do not.

What actually sells out first

In rough order:

  1. Connecting rooms and family suites — always, everywhere
  2. The most established programs at the best-known properties
  3. Israel over everywhere else, because it sells to a local and an international market simultaneously
  4. Anything with a strong children's programme, once word gets round
  5. Sea-view and upgraded categories at resort properties

Standard rooms at less famous programs are usually available far later than people expect.

Flights are the other half of the problem

Every published program rate excludes flights, and Pesach flights sit at their annual peak in both price and scarcity. For families flying long-haul, the flight often decides the destination rather than the other way round.

Book the flight and the program close together. Committing to a program in a place you then cannot affordably reach is a common and expensive mistake.

A practical order of operations

  1. Decide roughly what you can spend in total, flights included
  2. Shortlist three or four programs that fit, using real price bands rather than requesting quotes one by one
  3. Ask each the questions that matter
  4. Check flights for your dates before committing
  5. Book both together

Common questions

When is Pesach 2027?

Pesach 5787 begins on the evening of Wednesday 21 April 2027 and runs through 29 April 2027. The first Seder is on the evening of 21 April. Most programs cover the full eight days, arriving on 21 April and departing on 29 or 30 April.

When is the best time to book a Pesach program?

Between Sukkot and Chanukah, roughly October to December, six months ahead. That is when serious inventory opens and when most organizers offer pre-publication rates before their brochure goes out. By January the most requested categories — connecting rooms and family suites — are typically gone.

Is it too late to book a Pesach program in February or March?

Not necessarily, but your choice narrows sharply and you are usually choosing from standard rooms rather than family categories. Late availability does appear from cancellations, and smaller or newer programs often still have space. Flights are usually the harder constraint by then, not the hotel.

Do Pesach program prices go up closer to the date?

Generally yes. Most organizers publish pre-brochure rates first and raise them as the program fills. Late discounting happens occasionally on unsold inventory, but it is a gamble: you are betting on a specific program having the right room category left, at a point when flights are also at their most expensive.

When is Sukkot 5787?

Sukkot 5787 runs from 25 September to 2 October 2026. Tishrei programs book later than Pesach ones, so rooms often exist inside four weeks — with flights usually the real constraint rather than availability.
