What to check

  • The specific hashgacha, not simply that the hotel is in Israel. Rabbanut and mehadrin are different standards.
  • Shabbat arrangements — lift, keys, meals, and whether there is a minyan on site or a shul in walking distance.
  • Whether catering is full board or breakfast only. Many Israeli hotels include a substantial breakfast and nothing else, which changes the real cost of the week considerably.
  • Cholov yisroel and pas yisroel, if you keep them. Widely available, not universal.
