Choosing between destinations

The largest single decision is usually geography, and it is mostly a question about flights.

  • Israel — the deepest market and the only place where the whole country is keeping Pesach around you. Most affordable on room rate; flights are the variable.
  • The United States — wins on total cost for American families, because a drive replaces six peak-season tickets.
  • Greece — where privatized five-star buyouts are most reliably available, at a short flight from Israel and Europe.
  • The Caribbean and the Far East — the top of the market, on price and often on facilities. Long flights with children are the trade-off.

Compare totals, not headline rates. With children at 40 to 60 percent of the adult rate and flights excluded from every published figure, two programs that look a thousand dollars apart frequently are not.

Pesach 5787 runs from the evening of 21 April to 29 April 2027. Most programs cover the full eight days, and many offer shorter first-days or second-days options. Because the dates are fixed years ahead, the constraint on booking is availability and flights rather than the calendar.

How far in advance should I book a Pesach program?

Serious inventory opens between Sukkot and Chanukah, roughly six months ahead. The most requested categories — connecting rooms and family suites — are usually gone by January. Booking early also secures the pre-publication rates most organizers offer before their brochure goes out, which is the largest saving available and costs nothing but deciding sooner.

What is included in a Pesach program?

Almost always all meals for the full eight days including both Sedarim, the tea room, minyanim and shiurim, children's programming, evening entertainment and use of hotel facilities. Flights, Chol Hamoed excursions, spa treatments and tips are commonly extra.

How much does a Pesach program cost per person?

Most run $6,000 to $20,000 per adult for the full eight days, with children typically 40 to 60 percent of the adult rate. Israel and drive-to US programs sit at the lower end; privatized five-star resorts in Greece, Italy and the Caribbean sit at the top.

How do I know a program's kashrut is reliable?

Ask for the rav hamachshir by name, and confirm whether a mashgiach is on site for the whole program rather than visiting periodically. Every listing on this site names the supervising authority, and we do not list a program whose operator will not confirm supervision in writing.

What is the difference between gebrokts and non-gebrokts programs?

A non-gebrokts kitchen never allows matzah to come into contact with liquid, so it serves no matzah balls, no matzah meal cakes and nothing breaded in matzah. It is a stringency kept by many Chassidic and Yeshivish families. If your family keeps it, filter for it rather than assuming, since many programs do serve gebrokts.
