Lower Danube: Bucharest to Budapest
A Jewish-heritage sailing up the Lower Danube aboard the Emerald Sky, from Bucharest to Budapest through Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia and Hungary, calling at Turnu Magurele, Vidin, Golubac, Belgrade, Novi Sad and Kalocsa. The itinerary is built around the synagogues, cemeteries and Jewish quarters of the region, from Bucharest's Coral Temple onwards.
The ship is chartered in full for the group, with a synagogue on board and daily minyanim. Shabbat is spent docked at Golubac rather than under way. Dr. Henry M. Abramson, Dean of Lander College for Men at Touro University, sails as guest lecturer. The fare is all-inclusive of meals, lectures, onboard programming and the local tours.
Kosher River Cruise's published standard is Glatt Kosher throughout, with all meat glatt, all dairy cholov yisroel and pas yisroel for all breads and cakes. They name no outside certifying agency - meals are prepared and supervised by their own kosher chefs under head chef Malcolm Green - so confirm the supervision with them before booking.
